Yesterday marked the shift from summer to fall – the autumn equinox in the Northern Hemisphere. The sun rose due east on the horizon and set due west. Now the sun’s arc grows lower and further south with each sunrise and sunset, making shorter days and longer shadows, until we celebrate the winter solstice.
