Fanning out in many layered rings
of blue and green, beige and brown,
Tis the beauty of decay that springs
From the fallen tree as a woody crown.
That burst of color from the autumn floor,
Delicate, though not frail,
is the body that held your countless spore
For death brings life to the Turkey Tail.
Looking for an activity for those gathering around your table this Thanksgiving dinner? Why not carve out some time for writing and sharing odes?! According to the Poetry Foundation, “An ode is a formal, often ceremonious lyric poem that addresses and often celebrates a person, place, thing, or idea.”
Odes can vary in form, and though odes are often written about things of beauty, well, beauty IS in the eye of the beholder. What person, place, thing, or idea will YOU celebrate this holiday?
